Tarantula husbandry that notices what changed

Your records, turned into today's care list.

Exuvia reads feeding offers, refusals, moults, water checks and health history, then shows what needs attention today. Record a moult and that animal leaves Feed Today until its species rest period ends, while its fangs are soft.

Free for up to 5 animals. No card needed to start.

Real Exuvia workflow · Seeded demonstration

One moult changes today's list.

Before the record, Mabel is due to feed. After it, Exuvia pauses feeding and shows exactly when the post-moult rest ends.

Why not a spreadsheet?

Plenty of keepers use one, and for storing records a spreadsheet is fine. What it cannot do is notice things. It waits to be asked.

Exuvia's value is the part that watches the history for you. Everything else in the app is bookkeeping.

Two things it watches for

A spider heading into premoult

Tarantulas refuse food routinely, so a single refusal means little. A run of them is the earliest practical sign that a moult is coming. Exuvia counts the run and flags the animal for a closer look.

A spider that must not be fed

After moulting, a tarantula's fangs are soft and live prey can genuinely injure it. Exuvia stops offering that animal food for a species-specific rest period, then puts it back by itself.

How the daily loop works

A feeding is an offer, not a meal
  1. You offer prey

Exuvia records that prey was offered. It does not assume the animal ate, because tarantulas refuse food routinely and healthily.

  2. The next day, you say what happened

The offer appears under Check Prey so you can remove anything uneaten. A live cricket left in an enclosure can injure a spider that is about to moult.

    Eaten Refused

  3. Refusals are the useful part

Several refusals in a row are the earliest sign that a moult is coming. The animal appears under Watch Closely - worth a look, not a diagnosis.

After a moult, feeding stops by itself
  1. You record the moult

Date, leg span if you measured it, and whether you kept the exuvium.

  2. Exuvia stops offering food

A freshly moulted tarantula has soft fangs and cannot defend itself, so live prey is genuinely dangerous. It moves to Resting After A Moult, showing the date feeding resumes.

  3. It comes back on its own

Once the rest period for its species has passed, the animal returns to Feed Today. There is nothing for you to switch back on.

Free for five. Keeper for larger collections.

Free handles up to 5 animals and includes every safety rule. The Keeper plan adds unlimited animals, enclosure and moult photographs, and spreadsheet import. See pricing and exactly what happens if you stop paying.

Species care values that ship with Exuvia are genus-level starting points, not care sheets, and several are estimates for a whole genus. They are yours to edit. Exuvia will not present a number it cannot stand behind.
